Minutes from Business Meeting, May 21, 1999
Treasurer's Report
The Treasurer's Report was distributed and reviewed. The balance as of
April 14, 1999 was $4,514.06. Becky Sproat, Treasurer (Tacoma CC), is
investigating transferring our account to an institution with lower or no
fees. Margaret noted that Becky is doing a great job handling the finances
of CLAMS.
Voyager Update (Deb Gilchrist, Pierce CC)
The 14 schools in the ORCA consortium have successfully upgraded to Voyager
98.1.
Summary of the Pre-Conference Session With UMI

certain fixes coming with Version 3 of ProQuest Direct. Jeanne Crisp of the
Statewide Database Licensing Project released a full report, which Stephanie
will share with CLAMS.

Conferences, 1999-2000 School Year
The CLAMS Fall 1999 meeting will occur during the ACRL WA/OR Fall conference
scheduled for October 28-29 at Pack Forest, WA. The fourth and final
workshop in the Librarian as Educator series will take place at the Spring
2000 conference (possibly at Bellevue CC).
CLAMS will be reviewing its conference scheduling in light of the fact that many members also participate in the ACRL WA/OR chapter conference, and joint conferences may not always be available.
Other
Legislative Committee: Concerns over issues regarding continued faculty
status and salary discrimination have revived the Legislative Committee
which is chaired by Leslie Henderson-Potter (Shoreline CC). Lee Semsen
(Green River CC) volunteered to serve on this committee.
Library Instruction Resource Guide: Stephanie Carter (Centralia College) reminded members of this tool, which allows libraries to share the benefits and problems encountered with library instruction. There are still several schools whose reports need to be submitted to Stephanie. Visit the CLAMS Web site and see what the libraries are teaching.
Paula Palmer presented Margaret Snyder with a gift from CLAMS, and thanked her for her contribution as president.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
