Quote for the Day

The greatest part of a writer's time is spent in reading, in order to write; a man will turn over half a library to make one book.
Samuel Johnson in Boswell's Life, April 6, 1775

Editor's Note

We do not usually publish three issues of the Clam Chowder in one year, however, the Spring Conference provided such a lot of good information, that the Executive Board did not want to wait until next fall. Since this issue was put together in a hurry, some of the usual sections are missing, but will appear in the Fall issue instead. One paper copy will be distributed to each library next week when I get back from a short vacation.

Thank You to Wenatchee Staff

CLAMS would like to thank Meredith Patterson, CLAMS spring conference coordinator and Bruce Swenson, library director at Wenatchee Valley College for their work and support. Meredith was busy in the past few months checking out hotels, booking conference facilities, selecting food menu, arranging local programs, providing support to the conference presenters ... She also prepared signs, helped with the handouts, and most importantly, made sure we had plenty of good refreshments! The conference turnout was good. We had an enthusiastic crowd. One participant proclaimed, "This is the best CLAMS I've ever been to." The "excellent" session presenters and the "good hospitality" at Wenatchee made a good mix. We learned much and also had a great time!
